FAQs

How does your A La Carte menu work?

Every week, we create a brand new menu designed around the seasons and our favourite dishes.

There is a different menu available for delivery on Monday and on Wednesday. Choose as many meals as you would like, from either one delivery menu or both. Delivery is £5 per day, or spend over £120 and it's totally free.

How does Chef's Selection work?

This option is perfect if you'd like us to send you meals every single week without having to remember to come back to the site every time.

The menu will always be different,  based on our Chef's Selection of best-selling dishes that week.

There are a few different options that you can choose from, depending on how many meals you need each week and you can pause your subscription at any time using the link in your email.

If you ever have any issues with this, email us straight away at orders@bychefjen.co.uk and we will be more than happy to assist - we hate companies that make subscriptions difficult!

Your orders will always start from the next available delivery date. We close orders at 5pm the day before delivery, so any orders after this point will start the following delivery day.

Example:

Order placed Sunday 1st January at 16:00 - first delivery will be the evening of Monday 2nd January.

Order placed Sunday 1st January at 18:00 - first delivery will be the evening of Wednesday 4th January.

Looking to send a gift?

We deliver a LOT of gift packages, particularly to New Parents - here's how it works.

Gift packages are always delivered on the next available delivery date, unless otherwise specified. If you'd like us to hold the order until you're ready, just email / leave us a note in the order comments.

Example:

Order placed Sunday 1st January at 16:00 - first delivery will be the evening of Monday 2nd January.

Order placed Sunday 1st January at 18:00 - first delivery will be the evening of Wednesday 4th January.

With the gift packages we will always choose the meals for you based on the best-sellers that day. Be sure to let us know if your recipient has any dietary requirements that we should be aware of.

If you'd prefer for the recipients to choose their own meals whenever they're ready, the best thing to do is to opt for a Gift Card. Like an online voucher, your gift card will be emailed to you so that you can forward it on to the recipient to use whenever they're ready.

Where do you deliver?

We currently deliver most of Central London - if you’d like to check if we deliver to you, just drop us a message here.

Here's an (almost perfect) map of our current delivery radius - we are working on expanding this all the time. We recommend that you check your postcode on our menu page before placing your first order.

If we don't deliver to you yet - leave your details here and we'll let you know as soon as we can!

How much does it cost?

Meals are individually priced, and the minimum spend is £35.

Delivery is £5 per day, orders over £120 are eligible for free delivery.

You can also subscribe to one of our Chef's Selections, which is ideal if you'd like to have weekly deliveries on repeat and you're happy for our team to choose which meals you'll receive.

How does delivery work?

We prepare, chill and deliver the food on the same day for optimum freshness.

Delivery is made between 6:00pm-9:00pm on your selected delivery day.

Our meals are transported in insulated cool bags with our couriers, and then we hand over the meals to you in simple paper bags to reduce excessive waste packaging.

This means you should ensure you are home during the delivery window, to receive your delivery, or leave us a note at the checkout if we should leave with a neighbour or in a safe place.*

*We cannot take responsibility for issues with orders that are not received directly by you, however our drivers are incredibly friendly and helpful and will do their best to leave your order in a safe place if you request it.

How long does the food last?

All meals come with a best before date, and we recommend keeping food in the fridge for 3 days from delivery, or freezing for up to one month where appropriate.

How do you package your meals?

We're 100% recyclable!

After extensive research, we pack all meals in specialist containers that are made from FSC certified paperboard, which is safe for use in the microwave, oven and storing in the fridge and freezer. They're fully recyclable, just give them a rinse and pop them in your regular recycling bin.

The lids are made from easily recyclable PP to ensure that your meals are securely sealed, so they can go in your regular recycling bin too.

Labels can be recycled with the containers so no need to remove, and our delivery bags are fully recyclable too.

Meals are transported in cool bags, and then handed over in a simple recyclable paper bag to prevent waste packaging.

Where do you source your ingredients?

We have tried and tested many of London's best suppliers before deciding on our ongoing partners, to ensure we always work with the best quality and most sustainable choices when it comes to ingredients.

Currently, we work with Jones the Butcher, using the best quality British Beef, Pork + Lamb for our butchery and the Ginger Pig for our poultry.

We work with Oui Chef to source the best British and European fruit and vegetables, with the best seasonal ingredients available.

Finally, we work with Direct Seafoods who are very focused on sustainability - to provide us with fresh fish each day. We use Loch Duart Salmon from Scotland - because it's delicious!

How do I reheat the food?

There are cooking instructions on each meal label, so you can always feel confident reheating your meals correctly. All microwave ovens vary, the most important thing is to make sure that your food is piping hot throughout before you tuck in!

Reheating in a microwave oven is the speediest way to enjoy your healthy meals, but you can enjoy on the stove in under 10 minutes too. If you would like reheating instructions for this, please just drop us an email at orders@bychefjen.co.uk

What if I have an allergy?

All meals are displayed on the menu with full allergens.

If you have an allergy, please leave a note at the checkout so that the kitchen is aware.

It is your responsibility to inform us of any allergens, and we cannot guarantee that any of our meals are free from traces of all of the main food allergens, as we handle all of them in our kitchen.

We follow strict procedures in our kitchen to avoid cross contamination.

Cancellation Policy?

You may cancel your order by writing to us at: chefjen@wecooklondon.co.uk, with 24 hours notice.

Cancellations made after this point will not be refunded, but we can donate your order to Soup Kitchen London or send your meals to another local address if you prefer.

Every meal is made to order, which allows us to order exactly the amount of fresh produce that we need each day. We do this to operate as close to zero waste as possible, hence our cancellation policy.
